Our client is an AJ100 practice currently seeking to appoint an experienced and competent Principal Designer to undertake Building Regulations Principal Designer services. In addition to acting as Principal Designer on specific projects, the successful candidate will also provide CDM and Building Regulations support and advice to multi-skilled teams during the design, pre-construction and delivery stages of a wide range of residential projects, to ensure their compliance with statutory requirements under CDM and UK Building Regulations. You will be reporting to the Directors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To deliver the range of services expected of a Building Regulations Principal Designer based on Part 2A of the Building Regulations.  
  • To plan, manage and monitor Design Work during the design phase of projects and co-ordinate matters relating to the Design Work.
  • To advise and monitor matters relating to Risk Management.
  • To deliver and manage H&S services to ensure compliance on construction projects.
  • Planning, monitoring and managing Design and Delivery Work to comply with the most up to date Building Regulations.
  • To assist in the development of office wide systems and procedures to create a consistent and efficient approach to achieving compliance with statutory Regulations.
     

What they are looking for:

  • Good knowledge of Building Safety Act 2022 and secondary legislation.
  • Qualified and experienced as a Building Control Inspector/ Surveyor/ Advisor/ Manager/ Officer (preferable)
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation.
  • Experience in design and construction processes as an experienced Architect/ Design Manager or Surveyor.
  • Professional qualifications in construction, engineering, or architecture, such as CABE, RIBA, MCIAT etc 
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the construction industry with experience of CDM/Health and Safety/Building Regulations compliance in construction.
  • You have excellent working knowledge and understanding of CDM 2015 and associated legislation.
  • You have demonstrable previous experience in successfully delivering the Principal Designer BSA and CDM roles in the residential and commercial sectors.
  • You ideally hold a NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • You ideally are an incorporated member of the Association for Project Safety (IMaPs).
  • You will need to be a good communicator with interpersonal and organisational skills.
